All of Montreal could be wrapped in WiMax blanket

2009 is the deadline by which two Quebec-based companies are aiming to have all of Montreal wrapped under a huge WiMax-based Wi-Fi “blanket”.
Internet service provider (ISP) Radioactif.com and network installer Nomade Telecom Inc. are currently beta-testing a 100-square kilometre Wi-Fi mesh they have deployed in Plateau Mont-Royal, the city’s densest neighbourhood.
The partners intend to offer wireless Internet and IP telephony services to residents in the area by September.
